More Housing Options For Everyone

We need more housing units in Lansing to bring prices down. We also need more assistance for those struggling to buy their first home or keep a roof over their heads.

Zoning and Permitting Reform

Simplified zoning regulations and expedited permitting processes to let developers build more housing in more places faster.

Public Housing Options

Directing more funding to the Lansing Housing Commission to create new public housing for those facing economic hardships.

As rents continue to rise and federal housing resources dry up, the city must take charge with its own rental subsidy program.

Public Safety

We need to refocus efforts on keeping our streets safe and making sure our most at-risk community members receive the help they deserve.

Policing

We've heard from people all over the city - they want better policing outcomes and so does this campaign. Whether its faster response times to 911 calls, better allocations of financial resources, or more visibility in our neighborhoods and business corridors, this campaign will work to take action.

Assistance for the Homeless

Although some of the proposed housing reforms should have a meaningful impact in addressing Lansing's increasing homeless population, we can't stop there. Further assistance with job training and placement as well as substance abuse prevention are also required.

Reforms at the Board of Water and Light

The BWL is an important resource for the city and one that touches every member of the community. We need to leverage this powerful resource to drive affordability and move Lansing's housing stock into the future.

An Electric Future

Subsidized rooftop solar for customers falling behind on their bills. Bigger rebates for electrifying your home's space and water heating. Rates that encourage heat pump adoption. It helps us decarbonize our grid, it helps the BWL grow its revenue, and it keeps local contractors working.

Always On

The BWL needs to vow to end shutoffs entirely for residential customers behind on their bills because nobody should have to go without essential services.

Helping You Manage Your Bills

We need rates that help economically disadvantaged customers save on their bill with income-graduated fixed charges. We also need reasonable payment plans that are capped at fair portions of customers' incomes.
